Years of Hardwork
The idea to establish Environmental Friendly Initiative (EFI) and eventual incorporation in 2011 as non-profit and non-governmental organization developed at the 4th Annual Conference of Nigerian Senate on Environment with the theme on “Waste Management in the 21st Century” in 2006. It started off with two key important approaches: Firstly to understand things as they are and why. Secondly, contribute to improving it. This strategic intent is to reset the solution approach to environmental problems using the tools of research, education and advocacy
Evidence show that it took lots of efforts to convince the global community during the SDG negotiations to accept climate change as a stand-alone goal. The goodnews is that climate change is now a crosscutting concern and fundamental in shaping economies and politics. This arrival of 2030 Agenda (Sustainable Development Goals particularly Goal 13) and Paris Agreement frameworks anchored on three strands of people, planet and prosperity has made our activities a lot easier. As a result, EFI activities in the last 3 years have focused on amplying climate action solutions with increasing understanding that in Nigeria, while adaptation should be emphasized in the south, mitigation is in the north
At EFI, We envision a global youth-led institutions supporting solutions to friendly and healthy living in a prosperous and sustainable world. .
